EXP2, Week 3 Task, Final light rail stop & Textures

36 textures (light to dark):

Final light rail stop:

Structure on left is at it's most fundamental only a series of hollowed out cubes of decreasing size, relating to the Gropius concept of structuring around basic geometry.

Every element of the design serves a purpose, I attempted to minimise extraneous details considering the "form follows funtion" idea.

Geometric consistency coupled with civilised experimentation are two concepts from Herzog and De Meuron that were kept in mind for the suspended section of the design; a rectilinear unit supported by curvilinear shapes.

A note on theme.
The theme I had in mind designing this was that of the multicultural UNSW. While many would think of the universities international cultural diversity, I considered how it is also a collection of different Australian subcultures. Common academic interests bring rural and urban Australians together, hence I have attempted to incorporate elements of rural style into this urban setting, for example through the corrugated iron roofing.
